In my opinion, I don’t see the recent Delta variant as a considerable threat to us; that is, of course, we don’t remove the mask mandate. And if some people are unwilling to wear a mask, that’s their personal choice, but the federal government shouldn’t be telling people that it is safe to be maskless as long as you’re vaccinated. The vaccine is not the silver bullet. Common sense precautions and personal assessment of risks are also necessary. And on the economic side, our state and the federal government cannot afford to impose another lockdown again; we are already on a path of financial catastrophe caused by our monetary policies. If all economic activity stops again, it will be very destructive. It might just drive another 2008 type of financial collapse; only that this time, it will be even worse, and its adverse effects will likely last several decades. Circling back to the topic of COVID-19 restrictions, we pretty much removed most of the public health restrictions already on the state and national levels. Unfortunately, due to this, we might likely see another spike in case counts coming this holiday season later this year as the virus continues to mutate. And when the government removes restrictions, it is most definitely impossible to reinstate it ever again. Therefore, we’re just going to have to live with the virus for the unforeseeable future and take a proper and common sense approach to protect ourselves.
